After having spent numerous hours in front of computer screens, I am very happy to be able to have my hobby as my job and vice versa! My name is Konstantinos Manos and you are welcomed to my personal homepage. To know me a little better, here is a little something about my humble self :)
I was born on 26th of September 1978 in Athens and for as long as I can remember I was always fascinated by computers. The first computer I ever sat in front of, was an Amstrad CPC 464! It had a tape input device which roughly translated in 5-7 hours of waiting before the game was loaded! I can remember myself and my brother waking up in the morning, opening the computer, inserting the game's tape and typing the load command in the console, we then set off to the local playground until midday when we came back for our lunch. If everything went as planned we could then play our game!
The games then were REALLY expensive so we often ended up buying some computer magazines (e.g. PIXEL) that had the source code listing of simple games. We type it, save it and run it! It was then that I made my first "baby" steps in the software engineering area!
Next stop was an Amstrad 1512 running at 3.5KHz (with a Turbo mode of 7KHz!!!). From then on the technology started taking great leaps. Computer Science is changing continuously, you must read and be mindful of the changes to be able to keep up with this crazy rhythm! That was exactly what made me love this science!
So, here I am. I have finished my Computer Science Degree in the University of Piraeus and on July 2011 I successfully defended my PhD thesis (at the same university). In the Research section you will find all the work that supports my thesis.
I work as a software engineer and lately I have been specializing in Internet Applications and Infrastructure Development. I can write in Delphi7, PHP, Java, VB.NET, ASPX.NET, C# and I can use MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle or Access for databases. I can create Installation Scripts using the Wise Installation system. Finally I combine binary applications and internet front-ends via the use of Dynamic Websites (AJAX) and Web Services (XML, SOAP) or RSS Feeds to create really flexible, live and robust Internet Applications. Check out my Portfolio for samples of my work.
Lately I started specializing in web game development. I have worked with different game types and distribution platforms including Browser-based games, Flash Games and Facebook Games.
